UP Manila and BOI Collaborate to Promote Herbal Medicine Innovations Nationwide

University of the Philippines Manila (UPM) headed by Professor and Chancellor Dr. Michael L. Tee represented by Vice Chancellor for Research Dr. Leslie Michelle M. Dalmacio, TTBDO Director Lourdes Marie S. Tejero and the Board of Investments (BOI) represented by Undersecretary and BOI Managing Head Dr. Ceferino S. Rodolfo and Executive Director Ma. Corazon Halili-Dichosa, signed the Memorandum of Understanding which marks the beginning of a collaboration in support of advancing technology transfer of UP Manila Herbal technologies on August 21, 2024 at the AVR Penthouse, Board of Investments. 

With the support of BOI, UP Manila Technology Transfer and Business Development Office (UPM TTBDO) will be conducting roadshows in Pampanga, Iloilo, and Cagayan De Oro this year to showcase innovative herbal medicines: 

  • Tsaang Gubat Tablet & Syrup for relief of abdominal pain and diarrhea
  • Ulasimang Bato Tablet for managing hyperuricemia 
  • Yerba Buena Tablet as analgesic
  • Akapulco Lotion for treating fungal skin infections 
  • Ampalaya Tablet for Type II diabetes 

These are developed by our very own National Integrated Research Program on Medicinal Plants – Institute of Herbal Medicine (NIRPROMP-IHM) also in attendance represented by IHM Director Dr. Cecilia Maramba-Lazarte.
